Pipeline leaks can be costly and damage your reputation. The AER notes that leaks typically cause the largest pipeline spills because they can go undetected for long periods, and a release at a water crossing or near people carries the highest consequences.
APS Drone Services is based in Calgary. We fly drone right-of-way patrols and leak detection for oil and gas producers in Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan.

How we work
- Identify high-risk segments. We look at operating pipelines in your area that are over 30 years old, built from steel with no internal coating, or that cross a water body.
- Propose a patrol schedule. High-risk ROW gets more frequent visits, set to fit your Integrity Management Program, so leaks have less time to spread.
- Review the video as soon as each flight lands. We look for staining, dead or stressed vegetation, sheen and other visible signs of a leak, and alert you immediately if something looks wrong. You receive all the footage, screenshots and a map confirming the sections flown.
- Stay on call 24/7. When a leak is suspected, we fly the area as soon as daylight, weather and airspace allow, and send video to help size the response.
