Alberta pipeline risk assessment tool
Choose your company to screen its operating pipeline inventory in Alberta. The score is a screening view, not a regulatory finding. It highlights where leak exposure and water-body exposure tend to concentrate so you can decide where a drone ROW patrol would help most.
Three factors drive the score:
- Uncoated steel is steel with no internal coating or liner. Internal corrosion caused 38% of Alberta pipeline failures in 2025, and 77% of those failures were on internally uncoated steel.
- Pipelines over 30 years old were often built with tape-wrap coatings that degrade and disbond over time. Thirty years is our screening threshold, not a regulatory limit.
- Water crossings let a release reach water quickly, turning a small leak into a high-profile spill and an expensive cleanup.
The data comes from the AER’s public pipeline licence records and counts only segments licensed as Operating. The score does not reflect your corrosion mitigation, inspection history or regulatory standing.
After you review the numbers, see how aerial pipeline inspection works or request a quote for a patrol schedule on the segments that matter.
